THE POOR IN SPIRIT

"And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:1-3)." The person who is ''POOR IN SPIRIT'' is the one who avoids pride. He understands that he/she is a sinner and hates sin. In this way, they humbly seek God's help and strength in overcoming daily sin. God receives those with a broken spirit, not the proud. Happy is the poor in spirit for their's is the kingdom of heaven. Why? they will seek God. Truly, saved people love the Lord and His word, and they put their faith in the saviour. Thus, being poor in spirit is evidence of their salvation. They will be wholly dependent on God and that is what the Lord wants. He wants to bless us and accomplish His divine plan through our gifts to others. We can not serve God without serving others. The result of being spiritual is to be used of God to help others find the Lord Jesus as their saviour, and to help them also grow spiritually. Remain blessed from Evangelist Emenike S.F.C.
